As some of you may know, we continue struggling to fit our singers on the chancel for our concerts. We are jammed, uncomfortable and have difficult sight lines to the conductor. Yet, our popularity as a creative outlet for singers continues to increase. Despite all this, we love singing for our audiences! Regrettably, I’ve been actively saying no to good singers while pushing up against what we can possibly fit on the chancel; a personally painful process.

Consequently, we are launching a program for alternate singers. We will audition additional singers on Sunday, September 15 at 4:00 PM, at the Oak Harbor First United Methodist Church.

Alternate singers, if they pass the usual audition requirements, will join as an alternate to the current roster. If someone is unable to sing in one or both of the Christmas concerts, the alternate will be placed in the roster for that concert. Placement priority will be based on balance and voice part need.  Alternates will attend all rehearsals and be subject to the same preparation expectations and attendance policy. The only difference is that an alternate does not have to pay the registration fee unless they are slated for a concert.

Please bear with us as we manage our success. In a sense, it is a good problem to have even if does not always feel that way.
